While rummaging through a box of memorabilia, I came across this little piece of history. It’s a piece of news copy I tore off the UPI teletype news wire. It’s dated February 27,1966. That was about a month after I started working at the Washington D.C. bureau. I was still training at the downtown office. Later I was assigned to the Senate Press Gallery where I ran copy for Bill Theis. I must have torn off thousands of news copy off the teletype, but I probably kept this one piece because my family and I were in Anchorage during the 1964 Good Friday Earthquake.
