Kayoko managed to breach the walls of the imperial palace today. The 200,000-man siege I heard about for Sunday was apparently a bit of an exaggeration. NHK reported 54,000 on Friday, 91,000 on Saturday. No official numbers yet for Sunday.
The crowds today, the last day, were reasonable enough for Kayoko to make it all the way through in just a little over one hour.
Of course, the crowds were respectfully quiet and about the only voices heard were those of the police officers who emulated the famous “DJ Cop” of Shibuya fame. The protectors of the realm called out to the visitors in near melodic cadence, giving advice for the best photo ops. Yappari Nihonteki! (So very Japanese!)
