This is for the proud people of Tohoku. In the year since I wrote this poem, recovery of the physical infrastructure has been spectacular. Though the rubble is gone and the roads repaired, we can’t let the images of civil engineering success fool us; deeper scars remain in the hearts and livelihood of the people. It’s good to forget the horror of that day, but we cannot forget the needs that remain. We have found a way to volunteer my teaching skills via Skype. I hope you can find the best way for you to help.
