We’re having another ceramics exhibit at Maître D’s. Interesting stuff – some pieces look as if they had been dug up at a Yayoi archaelogical site; or maybe salvaged from a sunken ship loaded with treasures from the Warring States Period.
Iwami-san says he tries to reproduce the aesthetics of antiquity tempered by the raw beauty of nature. One particularly intriguing piece appears to have been formed from stone in a volcanic kiln.
I will post some photos later today or tomorrow. For the time being, you will just have to take my word for it; or, better yet, stop by Maître D’s and see for yourself.
